Young Birders New Zealand is a not-for-profit organization here to teach the kiwi kids about our breathtaking birds! Despite living in a land so full of birds, many New Zealanders wouldn't know there are five kinds of kiwi or the difference between tui and bellbird calls. For some it is a shocker to find that Red-Necked Stints - the same size as a sparrow - fly from Russia to New Zealand and back each year, while for others the true surprise is the spoon-billed shape of a Royal Spoonbill.
No matter how much you know, there is always something to learn. Our team learns new things every magazine we write. The coolest thing is that all of our team is under 18 years of age, and keen birders too. We all love a little competition, and when we get together things get a little crazy! We are happy to help you if you have questions about birds, but also bring the knowledge to you in our bimonthly magazines.
